Media - The main means of mass communication.

Creating Meaning:

A sign can be any physical form to which we give meaning, including words, pictures, colours, clothes, etc.

People who are fans of Harry Potter may like to read the pages about Harry Potter in the magazine and the magazine may also appeal to others who like the other films listed.

Someone else who doesn't know of Harry Potter may just think its a popular film franchise that others like or maybe even just an actor on the front page.

Denotation - The dictionary definition 

Connotation - The deeper meaning - what we associate with the word or symbol.

LO: To analyse texts using the correct terminology.



They have used a gradient from a dark to light (purple to pink) which could show that when you are feeling sad if you have this product it will make you feel better 

There are many who go trick or treating and so people would want to buy this product

They have used colours in the background that make the product stand out more               


The items in the background such as the newspaper and the bird can give some information as to what is going to happen in the film.
The three main characters are shown on the front of the poster in the costumes they are most recognisable in, in this film.
The setting of hogwarts is shown in the background on a bright day but with dark clouds coming in foreshadowing that something dark and mysterious could happen.
The black at the top makes the gold that is used for the title stand out.
The genre of the film is action/adventure

 Tuesday 4th October 2022 LO: To analyse a media text using Media Language They have chosen to use a medium long shot for this poster so that you can see his hands as he is wearing gloves and has a gun which shows some connotations. They have used this shot so that you can see his facial expression clearly whereas with a long shot it wouldn't be as noticeable. His clothing connotes that he is on a mission as he looks as if he is going to do something serious which is also shown by his facial expression. He is wearing gloves showing he doesn't want to be found out by anyone. He might not want his fingerprints on anything showing he is a very secretive character. Do Now: Food Magazines: (code and conventions) Shot type - A lot of them use close up of food and specific recipes that people will see and be interested in. Colour Palette - The magazines use light neutral colours. Font Styles - Simple font styles almost looking as if handwritten. Sub-Genre: (music magazines) Rock  Pop Heavy Metal Boy band Country Rap Electronic Jazz  Rock music:   The magazines use a lot of black which shows it is a rock magazine.
