 Thursday 29th June 2023 LO:  Explore the use of Adobe Illustrator to create a magazine masthead. Sub-genre: - Baking Quite large but simple fonts Sweet Treats Tuesday 4th July 2023 LO: To use Adobe illustrator to create an effective magazine masthead. The hobby that I am going to do is baking. Sweet Treats is name of my magazine. For the masthead I need to use neutral colours and a simple font as if handwritten.  Genre conventions for baking magazines - using neutral colours, handwritten fonts and main image of a dessert (brownie/cookie).

Do Now: Food Magazines: (code and conventions) Shot type - A lot of them use close up of food and specific recipes that people will see and be interested in. Colour Palette - The magazines use light neutral colours. Font Styles - Simple font styles almost looking as if handwritten. Sub-Genre: (music magazines) Rock  Pop Heavy Metal Boy band Country Rap Electronic Jazz  Rock music:   The magazines use a lot of black which shows it is a rock magazine. They also use a dark colour palette which is usually black, white and another colour. They use a close up of the band/artist that the main cover line is about. Baking/cooking:   Colour palette - Neutral colours where some link in with the main image. Also uses a lot of gold and red. Masthead - Title & is at the top of the magazine cover/left hand side Dateline - The date & is just above the masthead Main Image - A picture & is in the centre of the magazine cover Cover Lines - Tells you whats in the magazine & is to the right of the image in the middle Main cover line - Main story inside the magazine / links to the main image & is to the left of the image roughly in the middle Bar code/Price - Where you scan and tells you how much it costs & at the top or bottom corner of the magazine Tagline/Strapline - A sentence to define the magazine & is around the title Pull Quote - A key phrase/quotation taken from a specific article to entice readers into the the article or to highlight a key topic

Thursday 15th June 2023 Evaluation: My company is called Cross stitch patterns and it includes cross stitch patterns aimed at teenagers. Some of the designs include Harry Potter, Friends, Star Wars and Disney.  On wix I had to use the image section to add my logo and the design feature to be able to change colour schemes, the text and the overall design of buttons. I'm happy that I was able to create a website which expresses the theme I was going for. If I was to do this again I would add different images as a lot of them are for like tv shows/films. I think next time I should add pictures that show the variety of designs.
